This Christmas, while many of us gather in warmth and security, countless families are struggling just to stay together. This is why we launched Keeping Families Together, to stand with families in their darkest moments, so children like Meti can grow up surrounded by the love and stability they deserve.
Eight-year-old Meti lives with her mother in a rented one-room mud house. Their belongings are few but at our school Meti receives daily food, a great education, school uniform and new shoes, essentials her mum simply cannot afford.
But behind Meti’s smile is a difficult battle. Her mum has breast cancer. When Meti’s mum received her diagnosis, her heart dropped. How would she afford the many trips to hospital or continue to work to keep Meti fed? And the question that she couldn’t bear to think about, what would happen to Meti if she was no longer around?
In that moment of fear, she reached out to our Bethany Project. Meti’s mum now receives help with transport to a specialist hospital for chemotherapy and access to medication. As she can no longer work during her treatment, she also receives food and rent support. This care is saving her life and, today, Meti and her mum are full of hope for the future.
This Christmas, will you help us provide a lifeline to 232 struggling families in their moment of need, ensuring they don’t have to choose between feeding their child, receiving medical care or keeping a roof over their heads? A donation of £24 can provide food and medical support for a family this Christmas. A donation of £288 can support a family like Meti’s in the toughest circumstances who need long term support, keeping them together for an entire year and sharing with them God’s love.
