Challenge complete - please scroll down for update!
Dear All,
A very grateful and heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported me in the Stand by Me February On the Floor Challenge.
It is surprising what you can get used too! 5 nights on the floor has almost become the norm, but I think it was bearable, because (A) most importantly it meant that by doing this and raising funds, others wouldn’t have to sleep like this, and (B) It was only for a short time with the promise of a return to a mattress at the end.
I thought the above photo’s might give you an idea of my sleeping conditions, (a wooden parquet floor with a couple of blankets and a sports mat underneath) and the finishers reward on Saturday 18th February with a nice hot cup of tea!
So far £956 has been raised which is fantastic and means that 6 kids will have their own bed at sometime in the future and not a hard floor to sleep on, which makes every muscle twinge worthwhile.
I thought you might also be interested in watching this short YouTube clip which gives you the reason for why I did this.
My giving page is still open for donations, so there is still time to contribute to the incredible work the Standby Me charity is doing.
Every blessing
Andy
Stand by Me rescues kids from extreme circumstances, then provides the care, love and attention they need to thrive. We care for over 4,000 kids across the world, from Myanmar to Colombia to Ethiopia. No two are the same, some are orphaned, some abandoned, some abused or living in extreme poverty, so we take care to meet each of their individual needs from food and healthcare, to loving parents and quality education, enabling them to reach their potential, stand on their own two feet and become who they were created to be.
February on the Floor is a fundraising event designed to make a significant difference to the lives of our amazing Stand by Me children. We ask people to sleep on the floor for a week of their choice in February and raise money to help provide families with a bed, improve their living conditions and give them a great night's sleep.
