I will be going to Bekoji with the charity Stand by Me in August 2016. Whist there we will be spending time building beds and water filters for needy families in the community. Money raised will also be for craft to make with the children, buy lollipops and provide a much needed day out for the children in the Stand by Me village.
I have always wanted to be able to work on a team to provide for others who are in a much greater need than myself. I can't wait to venture out to Ethiopia and continue to make a difference with Stand by Me.
If you would like your donation to go a step further in donating a physical gift (Such as hats, jumpers, blankets and more hand crafted items which have been very kindly donated) - please visit http://calebethiopia.weebly.com/knitted-items for more information.
Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries in the world, where famine, HIV Aids and extreme poverty are rife. Nearly one million children are orphaned as a result of HIV/Aids. A lack of investment in education and a high dependency on child labour has left five million children without access to an education
Stand by Me opened the Bethany School in 2002 to educate the poorest children in the area, now we're providing 450 children with a free education, daily food and health care on a purpose-built campus. Our HIV health programme ensures pupils living with HIV and their families are well cared for. After witnessing the tremendous needs of orphans and abandoned children in the town of Bekoji, Stand by Me commenced the building of the Bekoji Children's Village to provide a family style environment where the children can grow in acceptance and love, enabling them to reach their full potential.
