This June, a team of 9 people from Heysham FM Church are heading to Bekoji, Ethiopia to support the charity 'Stand by Me' who are changing the lives of hundreds of children! They rescue children from extreme poverty. They provide them with a free quality education, daily food and health care. They ensure that precious children have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
In Bekoji, Stand by Me run a school for 500 children and an orphanage for 30 ‘at risk’ children. Our team aim to enhance the lives of these children by carrying out projects such as providing beds for families who currently sleep on the floor, helping with a water harvesting infrastructure, teaching English, running after school clubs, leading sports and music sessions as well as taking the children on a rare swimming trip! We will visit the family homes that have been built in order to provide loving care for orphaned and abandoned children to grow up in. We will also see the communities these children come from, seeing the poverty, but also the hope that a charity like Stand by Me brings.
BUT we need your help to make all of this happen. Our target is to raise a minimum of £10,000. Some money will go towards covering remaining costs for the team. All money raised over £3,000 will go directly towards the projects we will be carrying out in Bekoji. By giving, you are enabling us to partner with Stand by Me in enhancing the lives of some of the poorest children.
