This Christmas, we are inviting you to join us to keep 234 families, like Bereket’s, together.
Every day, the families we support face heart-wrenching choices, between providing food for their kids or keeping them warm, between paying rent or covering medical treatment. Facing these challenges, Bereket's family had no choice but to send her to work to provide for the family at just 13 years old. Bereket would peel potatoes on the road outside a café, a dangerous place for a young girl to be alone, earning just £5 per month which she used to help pay the rent and some of her family’s expenses while her mother was in bad health.
When our Project Director discovered this, he knew that without intervention Bereket would be forced to give up on her dreams of an education. Immediately he arranged for the family to receive medical help and monthly support to cover their rent and food. With this help, Bereket no longer had to work and could, instead, focus on school.
The ‘Keeping Families Together’ programme provides a lifeline for families like Bereket's by covering essential costs such as rent, food and medical care, as well as helping them become self-sufficient. This Christmas, with your help, we can support 234 families with this programme, bringing them dignity, security and hope.
A donation of £24 can provide food and a roof over a family’s head this Christmas. A donation of £288 can support a family for an entire year, keeping them together and bringing security and hope. For many, this support is their only means of survival and so any donation you can give will be gratefully appreciated.
