I have always intended to run a marathon but I always dreaded the thought of it and the training required. I always felt that I needed to run for a charity to give me the motivation to continue with the training and to complete the run. I felt I needed to join a running club so that I would have company during the training. I eventually joined Jog Lisburn running club and soon afterwards Covid 19 resulted in the end of public marathon events. As a result my marathon attempt has been delayed until the Belfast Marathon on October 3rd 2021.
I have enjoyed running and training with Jog Lisburn and I have picked Stand by Me as the charity to support for my Marathon. I specifically chose the Myanmar project as the children there are in great need due to the military take over and are in need of food and education.
Much thanks to all who donate to this charity which was supported by Susanne Sloan who had been to Myanmar on a number of occasions and was able to see the need for help for the children there. Susanne is greatly missed by all who knew her and I’m sure she would appreciate our support for Stand by Me.
Many Thanks,
Ross Bingham
