Pam and Tamara took part in a coastal challenge last month which was stretching to say the least. After 9 hours of walking for Pam and 12 hours of walking for Tamara, they completed this ambitious challenge.

We are grateful for the opportunity to be able to challenge ourselves but also wanted to raise money which is why we linked our walking challenge to fundraising for shoes for children. We are blessed to be able to have comfortable shoes in different styles and if we didn’t have our walking boots for this challenge it would have been much harder for us. The children we want to help will be incredibly grateful for a pair of shoes.

Stand by Me rescues children then provides the care, love and attention they need to thrive through their children's homes, schools, care centres and family support programmes. Stand by Me care for over 3,400 children in 7 countries. In the North East of India, there are hundreds of orphaned children. Children and their families suffer from little investment from authorities, resulting in almost no medical or educational provision. Girls face deep rooted social attitudes which place little value on women’s rights which often leads to violence, neglect and discrimination. The Stand by Me Agape Children’s Home is now a safe haven where forgotten children, especially girls, can grow in confidence and love.

The gift of shoes protects a child’s feet from harm everywhere they journey, to and from school each day, on every errand and expedition. When they receive a pair of shoes they burst with joy and are given the confidence to walk through mud, climb over rocks and splash through puddles. They are secure in the knowledge that their feet are protected from cuts, damage and disease and free to adventure into all life has to offer. Shoes are an essential part of ensuring children's health and wellbeing.

We would love to provide shoes for every child at the Agape Home in India

1 pair of shoes = £7.50

24 pairs of shoes (a pair for every child at the home) = £180

24 pairs of shoes x 2 a year = £360
