In Myanmar, hundreds of thousands of children do not have access to school. The only path available to them is the unrelenting slog of backbreaking farming. At Stand by Me we’re determined to bring light to even the darkest of circumstances. Throughout Myanmar, Stand by Me is providing loving family homes for orphaned children and offering an education for children in our schools.

Hnin Way Kyaw’s family live in a house so small it could be mistaken for a shed. Long before sunrise, Hnin Way Kyaw and her younger brother would wake up and spend all day at the side of the road with their mum selling food to earn a meagre income. They felt hopeless that they couldn't get an education.

But at our school, Hnin Way Kyaw attentively listens at her classroom desk, already dreaming of becoming a teacher. In our schools we are educating over 1,800 children just like her. These children who were once living in isolated villages and feeling hopeless are now finding their place in university and further education, rising out of poverty.

Partner with us to transform the lives of children in Myanmar.
