Meet Brian

Brian lives with his mother and older brother. The family separated and his mother moved to a different town from his father. They live in a rented single room house that serves as a living room, kitchen and bedroom. The room is empty and there is a small mattress that they all sleep on and one mosquito net tucked in around the mattress. They store their water in 10 liter jars, which double up as their chairs. There is a charcoal burner and two cooking pots and a few utensils. His mother does small casual jobs like working as a waitress in a small restaurant, doing other people's laundry and sometimes farming for someone. She hopes that she would soon join a money lending and saving group. Brian is a very quiet young boy who does not know what he wants to become when he is older, but his mother is happy that Brian loves school and is making a few friends. He really enjoys playing on the playground and loves coloring during the lessons.
