Growing up in the rift valley of western Kenya, our kids come from terrible backgrounds – the things you never want for your children, or anyone’s children. High levels of unemployment, lack of access to food and dire living conditions devastate people’s lives and the daily battle for food, healthcare and education means the opportunity to break out of poverty is a near impossible task. When these burdens become too much to bear, children are often left on their own with no place to turn. 

But despite the devastation of poverty and rejection, our Open Arms Program is a place bursting with joy where our dedicated staff are determined to bring hope to children in need. Our Open Arms Academy is providing an amazing education for Kenya’s next generation, preparing them to become Kenya’s next teachers, doctors, leaders and engineers, while the Open Arms Village is bursting with love as orphaned and abandoned children find new families.
