3|SHARE is going to the Dominican Republic this year and as part of our Company Meeting we want to make a positive contribution to the country we’ll be gathering in. We looked for an organisation to support and found an amazing charity called Stand By Me who work in the DR, and 7 other countries around the world, rescuing children from extreme circumstances and aiming to give them a brighter future.
In the DR, Stand By Me has established a school where 230 children attend and we want to support the children by providing each of them with a new school bag and some materials such as notebooks, pencils, an eraser, a sharpener and colouring pencils.
One of our activities at the company meeting will be putting these kits together and writing notecards to the children! We’ll also get a chance to meet someone from Stand By Me who will come to collect the bags to distribute to the children.
Each bag with the accompanying materials comes out to a cost of £15 ($18). 3|SHARE will be subsidising the cost to ensure all 230 children get new school supplies but we are also asking everyone to make a contribution too if they can. As an extension of our other community responsibility initiatives we announced this year, this is a great chance for everyone to positively impact another’s life.
