Meet Bravin
Aged 9, Kenya
Bravin lives with his mother and brothers. His father works far from home and barely comes to visit them. He is a tractor driver who depends on casual seasonal work, especially during the planting season. At other times he works as a casual labourer. In the compound where they live they have one cow that sometimes gives them milk and they have planted some maize for consumption, as that is all they can afford. Their home is quite close to the river and the water is not safe for drinking so they have to boil it first. Whenever his father sends money home his mother pays the school fees for his older brother and then attends to other household needs.
With sponsorship support, Bravin can receive regular meals, healthcare and access a quality education, giving him a great opportunity to thrive.
Bravin loves to play football and says that he plays number 7. He says that when he grows up he would like to play football and hopes to visit Chelsea F.C at some point. Bravin is a very disciplined young boy who loves to interact with other people. He is super jovial and very inquisitive.

Where Bravin lives
The Open Arms Village was founded in 2006 to meet the immediate needs of orphaned and abandoned children in western Kenya who were suffering from a wide variety of life-threatening diseases. After the 2008 political violence left thousands of children orphaned, abandoned and homeless, the project grew to support more children. Today, the Open Arms Village is now home to over 150 children with 10 purpose-built family homes and the Open Arm Academy is educating children and giving them a hopeful future.
