Meet Khloe
Aged 4, Kenya
Khloe lives with her parents in a two room house that is so close to the road that their house is always covered in dust. There is a sitting room with one old seat and a table and a bedroom with a shared bed. When Khloe's mum was young, she conceived and gave birth to another child whom she has left in the care of her mother. Living with Khloe's father and then having Khloe has not been easy, as he struggles a lot with anger and does little to provide for them. Khloe's mum does casual labour and on good days she is able to make money to buy them food that will last a few days. She has joined a savings and lending group so that she can always have a place to keep some money in case she has an emergency.
Being part of the sponsorship programme, will greatly help this family and open up good opportunities for Khloe.
Khloe is a shy young girl. She is so very excited about school and cannot wait to make new friends and play house with them. She likes to make `food` from mud and carry babies made out of clothes and take care of them.
Your sponsorship will provide Khloe with a quality education, daily meals and will resource our care programmes to meet her individual needs.
Where Khloe lives
The Open Arms Village was founded in 2006 to meet the immediate needs of orphaned and abandoned children in western Kenya who were suffering from a wide variety of life-threatening diseases. After the 2008 political violence left thousands of children orphaned, abandoned and homeless, the project grew to support more children. Today, the Open Arms Village is now home to over 150 children with 10 purpose-built family homes and the Open Arm Academy is educating children and giving them a hopeful future.
