Meet Godwill

Aged 8, Kenya

Godwill lives with his parents and younger sister in a two-room mud house with an iron sheet roof that is owned by his father's employer. His father works as a herdsman and they depend on his small income. Their living conditions are simple.

Despite these challenges, Godwill is cheerful and loves telling jokes. He likes making others happy and is friendly to everyone. He does very well in school and his parents described him as a hardworking boy, disciplined and very focused in his studies. He loves playing football with his friends and he likes helping his mother with small house chores.

Godwill dreams of becoming a pilot when he grows up. When he sees an airplane in the sky, he says he wants to fly one in the future. With sponsorship support, he can continue his education and move forward to achieving his dream of becoming a pilot.

Your sponsorship will provide Godwill with a quality education, daily meals and will resource our care programmes to meet his individual needs.

Where Godwill lives

The Open Arms Village was founded in 2006 to meet the immediate needs of orphaned and abandoned children in western Kenya who were suffering from a wide variety of life-threatening diseases. After the 2008 political violence left thousands of children orphaned, abandoned and homeless, the project grew to support more children. Today, the Open Arms Village is now home to over 150 children with 10 purpose-built family homes and the Open Arm Academy is educating children and giving them a hopeful future.
