Meet Zedekiah

Aged 9, Kenya

Zedekiah lives with his parents, one of his brother's and little sister. His eldest brother stays with their grandmother in a different town. Zedekiah's father works at a local timber yard and his mother washes people's clothes to earn an income.

To provide help to this family, Zedekiah was accepted onto the sponsorship programme, which enables him to receive a quality education, daily meals and have access to medical care and other support.

Zedekiah loves going to school and he says that he enjoys reading, writing and playing football with his friends. He is a confident boy full of life and he would like to be a pastor when he is older.

Where Zedekiah lives

The Open Arms Village was founded in 2006 to meet the immediate needs of orphaned and abandoned children in western Kenya who were suffering from a wide variety of life-threatening diseases. After the 2008 political violence left thousands of children orphaned, abandoned and homeless, the project grew to support more children. Today, the Open Arms Village is now home to over 150 children with 10 purpose-built family homes and the Open Arm Academy is educating children and giving them a hopeful future.
