The challenges we face in Guacamayal, Colombia are heartbreaking. Our kids come from terrible backgrounds where violence and abuse are a daily occurrence - the things you never want for your children, or anyone’s children.
Our Emmanuel Care Centre staff stand up for children trapped in poverty and abuse and, as well as providing for their basic needs, they go the extra mile to support them emotionally and psychologically. It’s no easy place to work but we know we are desperately needed to bring love and care to children.
The centre is supporting mums seeking refuge from domestic violence, running parenting training and providing housing and food assistance. Our resident psychologist is at hand to support children and parents to overcome the trauma of child abuse. Two hot meals a day, subject specific tutoring, games, songs and learning about the love of Jesus, all make our care centre a haven of hope and joy where children can know they are valued and loved.
Please watch the film above, it is moving story but hope shines through. Yesmith’s mum wanted to share their story so that many more children can be rescued. With your help we can make that possible and bring hope into the situations of children like Yesmith.
