For over 20 years we have been rescuing children in Ethiopia and promising them a life-changing education at our Bethany Primary School, meeting head on every obstacle they face. But today, our oldest kids like 15-year-old Mihiret are experiencing new challenges to reaching their potential.

Mihiret has been a Stand by Me child since she was four years old. In that time she has overcome so much with our care and support and passed her exams with flying colours, allowing her to go on to high school. But sadly, the government high school is failing our kids at every turn.

“When I went to High School it didn't meet my expectations. The first thing I noticed was there were too many students, the classrooms were very unclean and the library was always busy with lots of students.”

The inequality and lack of encouragement at the government high school resigns our kids to stay trapped in the same cycle of poverty as their parents before them. After so many years of investing in our kids, we can’t let this happen.

This year, we are building a High School Centre for 160 students like Mihiret to receive educational support. The centre will consist of four classrooms, a fully stocked library and an I.T. lab. It will be a safe environment where girls and boys can attend extra tutorial classes delivered by committed teachers who will encourage them and provide the support they need.

To do this, we need your help to raise £95,000 which will equip the centre with the essentials such as desks, chairs, books and computers and cover the first years’ funding of the tutors who will provide the teaching, guidance and encouragement they urgently need. We want to open its doors as soon as possible for our 160 students who urgently need it. A donation of £48 would go far in helping us equip and open the High School Centre or will cover the costs of a student like Mihiret attending the High School Centre for a month and be taught by safe and encouraging tutors and any donation you can make would be greatly appreciated.

Any donation you provide will help us equip the High School Centre to help students like Mihiret achieve their dreams and the hundreds who will follow in her footsteps.
