Mourne Mountains Challenge

Climbing mountains to help transform the lives of Stand by Me kids

£55 raised of £700 target
1 supporter

This summer the Farrell family are taking on the challenge of climbing the 7 highest mountains in the Mournes to raise money for children cared for by Stand by Me.

We'll be climbing to celebrate 30 years of Stand by Me rescuing children around the world, and raising money for the Bethany School in Ethiopia, a country that is very special to us, where our sponsor kids live. We would love to raise £100 for each mountain we climb. The money that we raise will help meet the needs of some of the poorest children in communities where Stand by Me work, providing access to clean water, regular nutritious food, healthcare and the opportunity of a quality education.

Thank you so much for your support as we take on this challenge, and for helping us to transform the lives of Stand by Me kids in Ethiopla.

Mountain No. 2 - Slieve Bearnagh
What a run of weather we are having... we had glorious sunshine for our walk up Slieve Bearnagh and even better company with the Cope's joining us! Setting off mid-morning we stopped for lunch by the river before climbing up to Hare's Gap, a few sweets for energy then onwards to the North Tor and finally the Summit Tor! The fourth highest of the sevens now ticked off the list and tired but happy climbers.

Mountain No. 1 - Slieve Binnian
The first of the 7 Sevens was Slieve Binnian, the third highest of the Mournes at 747m! A beautiful sunny day, and a very long walk to get us started on the journey. We headed up here at the end of August last year and with clear sky and a strong sense of accomplishment the idea of trying to conquer each of the Sevens within the next year was born.

Stand by... almost there...
