In October 2025 we are going to Ethiopia with Stand by Me to visit their work where they are changing the lives of hundreds of children who have been rescued from extreme poverty and giving them the opportunity to reach their full potential.
We'll be helping in projects at the Stand by Me Bethany School where over 400 children are receiving a free quality education, daily food and healthcare. We'll also be spending time at the Bethany Children’s Village which provides a loving family home for orphaned and abandoned children and visiting families in the community, seeing first-hand the poverty but also the hope that the work of Stand by Me brings.
There are many challenges that the children, their families and the community face and we want to provide every child in the Bethany School with a new pair of shoes. A pair of shoes costs £10 and we'd like to provide them for 400 children. If we exceed our goal, any excess will provide shoes for Stand by Me's high school and university students.
Secondly, we would like to provide food parcels for 100 families. A food parcel costs £50 and supplies a family with essential food and staple items including teff, wheat flour, oil, soap, charcoal, pepper and egg. These food parcels keep the whole family healthy and help their children concentrate on their lessons.
