Donations towards my homemade cards and knitted nurses will go to Stand by Me, a charity close to my heart. Stand by Me is a child care charity that rescues children from terrible circumstances, then does whatever it takes to provide the care, love and attention they need to thrive. They care for over 3,500 kids across the world from Myanmar to Colombia to Ethiopia. They take care to understand and meet each child's individual needs from food and healthcare, to loving parents and a quality education.
As many of your know, I have visited Stand by Me's project in Bekoji, Ethiopia and have seen firsthand the huge need but also the incredible work Stand by Me are doing to provide life-changing care and a brighter future for children and their families. I sponsor an amazing young man named Diribu and last year was able with the support of my friends and family to fundraise to buy his brother, who is living with cerebral palsy, a wheelchair to improve his life. The donations will be used to buy materials to make beds for families living without one, to renovate the houses of those living in the poorest conditions, to provide essential food parcels to keep families fed and healthy and any other needs the children and families in Stand by Me projects require.
