February on the Floor: Because every child deserves a good night's sleep

Our dream

Our kids from Colombia to Kenya to Myanmar are receiving food, healthcare and a great education. But many of them still sleep on the cold floor every night. We believe that every child deserves a good night's sleep and so we are inviting you to join February on the floor, a fundraising event that aims to bring a huge change to our kids' living conditions and provide them with a bed. Sign up to sleep on the floor for a week of your choice and receive your personalised fundraising page and fundraising guide.

The Challenge

This February we are challenging you to sleep on the floor for a week of your choice. Everyone’s challenge will be different and you can decide how difficult you want to make it. How long will you sleep on the floor, a week, all the weekends in February, one big Friday night as a group or class? Will you sleep on carpet, under a blanket or in a sleeping bag? You can choose how challenging you want to make it once you sign up. Every £140 raised from being sponsored can buy a bed for a child who spends every night sleeping on the hard floor and improve their living conditions, giving them a good night's sleep.

Who can do it?

The challenge is open to any age and any fitness and you can do it as an individual, a family or as part of a group whether from your school, church or company. You simply have to be prepared to have a week of uncomfortable sleep in order that you will be the reason one of the kids in our care will no longer have to. To confirm this challenge is right for you, there is advice in our challenge guide which you will receive once you have signed up!

A bed will transform life for a family

Taking part in February on the Floor will not only benefit one of our kids but also their whole family, making lasting improvements to their living conditions through a bed, mattress and cosy bedding. Your week of discomfort will give a whole family a good night’s sleep, helping them experience comfort and warmth every night and ensuring our kids are well rested to learn at school each day.

Just like Birtukan (pictured) whose mum shared: "Today we are going to get the sleep we have always dreamed of. We used to sleep on the floor, but this has passed, now we own a nice bed with bed materials thanks to those who are the reason this happened.”

The cost of a bed

£4 can provide a pillow

£9 can provide bed sheets

£16 can provide a blanket

£32 can provide a mattress

£79 can provide a bed frame

In total £140 can buy a bed and give a child the opportunity to snuggle into a bed for the first time, bringing them joy and helping them wake up every day rested, refreshed and ready for a day of learning and fun.
