Bring a Family Together this Christmas
The two-month Christmas school break is fast approaching and many of our children are wishing for a special Christmas staying with their extended families.
Sadly, their extended families cannot afford to feed them over Christmas and our children, like seven-year-old Rael.
Rael’s mother struggled with addiction and was unable to provide for Rael and her brothers and sisters. A worried neighbor found that the children had been left alone to fend for themselves and notified the authorities. Rael was only nine months old.
In a village miles away, lives 70-year-old Esther in a mud thatched house. She barely has enough food to care for herself every day. Esther is Rael’s grandmother. She loves Rael and the others very much and visits them as often as she can. She wishes she could care for them but she doesn’t have any way to feed so many children.
With your help, Rael and her brothers and sisters can visit their grandmother for Christmas this year without the risk of malnourishment! A food parcel consisting of staple items such as flour, oil, rice and beans is needed for 35 children at Open Arms who are hoping to spend Christmas with their extended family.
“At first, I was scared to stay with my grandmother for Christmas because I was afraid we wouldn’t have food. But now that I know we will have food to take home, I am very excited! I can’t wait for her to see how much I’ve grown!” Rael
This family that had been torn apart by poverty and hunger can be together this Christmas and experience the love of God because of a simple food parcel that you can provide.
