We are thrilled to announce that the High School Centre is now open. This has been a huge project to complete this fantastic facility and the wait is finally over for our Grade 9 – 12 students who are now attending tutoring classes, receiving their daily meals and finding the support they need to thrive in their education at the new centre.

On the opening day, the excitement was felt by all our students and most of all amongst our Grade 8 students who will be the first year group to be able to use the High School Centre all the way through their high school education. They now have the reassurance that whatever challenges they face at high school, they will have the safety and support of the High School Centre to help them overcome every obstacle and achieve.

14th January 2025

We have completed the construction of the High School Centre and have begun to furnish the classrooms ready for our children to use. We are excited to open the centre this March and begin providing life-changing educational support for our high school kids.

Currently, the contractor is working on completing the roof/shade for the terrace, which he expects to finish within two weeks. After that, we’ll move forward with the project handover from the contractor.

Furniture items have already started arriving at the centre, with more expected in the coming weeks.

The construction of the High School Centre has been completed from the contractor's side and we are now waiting for the temporary handover. Once the temporary handover is completed, the next step will be clearing the site and then starting the fence construction. We plan to do this by hiring professionals and daily labourers under our close supervision.

We still need to complete the purchase of the furniture and the fence work, along with clearing the site.

I am pleased to inform you that the construction is nearly complete, with only a few remaining tasks.

Over the past few weeks, significant progress has been made on the building. We have completed the installation of ceramic tiles and the painting of both the interior and exterior. Additionally, the doors and windows have been painted, and the construction of the septic tank and toilets have been finished.

With these major activities completed, the contractor is now left with just a few final steps: installing the window glass and the lighting fixtures. Once these are done, the contractor's work will be fully completed.

The building looks very beautiful and impressive. It is quite large and will be ready to open very soon.

Over the past few weeks, significant work have been made in various aspects of the building, bringing us closer to our goal of delivering best service for our children in high school. Since our last update, several critical tasks have been accomplished, including the installation of doors and windows in all rooms, complemented by the addition of marble under each window. Additionally, the installation of electric lines, including security camera lines, has been completed. Internally, gypsum work for all interior rooms has been finalized, providing a polished and professional finish to the internal spaces. Meanwhile, exterior edge smoothing work has been successfully completed.

Looking ahead, our plans for the coming weeks include the installation of ceramic tiles for all rooms, the fitting of light bulbs, exterior painting to complete the visual transformation of the building, and the installation of glass for the windows to finalise the structural elements.

We are optimistic about to completing these remaining tasks within the coming few weeks.

I'm pleased to inform you that the long-awaited roof and gutter work has successfully been completed. The building is gradually transforming into a fully functional high school centre, which is incredibly exciting for all involved.

While the unexpected rain caused a temporary halt to the roof working process, the weather has been favourable over the past few days. The contractor wasted no time in resuming work immediately after the rain stopped. They've already commenced the installation of the electrical lines and also taking measurements for the ceiling. Once they finish with the electrics installation, which will take a few weeks, they will follow up with the installation of doors and windows, and then the chalk work to add the finishing touches to the structure.

Overall, I'm impressed with the dedication and efficiency demonstrated by the construction team. Despite the weather challenges, they've managed to stay on track and maintain momentum towards completing the High School Centre.

While there was a temporary pause in construction activities during the Christmas Celebration and Ethiopian Epiphany, I'm pleased to report that significant progress has been since my last update. The plastering work on the outer part of the construction is underway, with completion anticipated by the end of this week. The inner part has already been plastered. The iron sheets for the roof have been delivered along with gypsum, and the next steps involve finalizing the details on finishing and smoothing the top tie beam. Once this is complete, the roofing installation will commence, followed by the gypsum work.

The construction of the High School Centre has made significant progress since it started a few months ago and the speed at which the construction has been carried out is exceptional. Over the past three weeks, there has been remarkable advancement in the construction process. The contractor has successfully completed the partition and plastering of the ground floor.

Currently, the contractor is working on the blockwork of the first floor, which is expected to be concluded within the next few days. Another crucial development is the roofing work, which has already commenced. The construction team has begun assembling the roof structure, preparing it for the final work that will be carried out in the upcoming weeks.

In the next few weeks the construction team plan to finish the blockwork of the first floor, including partitioning and plastering. They will also be working to complete the roof installation and refining the interior edges of the building. Another important task in the coming weeks will also involve plastering the exterior walls of the building.

The construction of the High School Centre is making good progress and it really has started to look like a house. Everyone involved is working at a very good speed and upholding the quality of the construction. Currently they have completed the top tie beam which is ready for the roofing and at the same time they are also working on the wall. They have already finished the wall on one of the sides and are working on the other side wall and will continue the partitioning. In the following days they will be finishing the wall for the ground floor and starting the plastering. They will also proceed onto the first-floor wall and get ready for the roofing work.

The construction of the High School Centre is at the stage where they are getting ready the top-grade beam to fill it with concrete in the coming few days. At the same time they are removing the scaffolding for the ground floor. Almost 80% of the scaffolding for the ground floor is removed and now it has started to look like a house. Next week they will start to fill the concrete for the top-grade beam and will be ready for the roof structure. I was also told the last few days that they are planning to get the bricks from Adama, where they sell strong and good quality bricks.

The construction of the High School Centre is going very well and everyday there is something new and having such a good contractor is a blessing. For the last few weeks, they have been working on the mesh and stairs along with the electric line installation before filling the first floor. Now they have completed all the filling of the first floor and the scaffolding needs to stay 21 days before they remove and start to work on the ground floor. But in the mean time they have already started to work on the columns for the first floor and they hoping to finish in few days. Once the 21 day completes, they will remove the scaffolding and work on the top beam of the first floor.

They are speeding up to finish the scaffolding and they have already finished the majority part and have started putting the thick plywood on the top, making it ready for the concrete filling. They are planning to complete placing the thick plywood on top of the structure by the end of next week and doing the mesh at same time. The construction of the High School Centre is going very well. The last few days and the weather also has been very good. They completed the column working ten days ago and they started the slab work which they just finished on Saturday 12th of August.

The slab work has been planned to complete in two weeks' time but they completed ahead of time. Now they are on the stage of making scaffolding for the upper slab and top beam which will take some time. They are working with woods manually and it will take between two to three weeks to complete.

6th June 2023

The foundation work has been done in two phases and the first phase is to complete the foundation work and compacting half of the total building, which was completed now and it is compacted with select material.

My concern has been to finish the second phase of finishing the foundation work, columns and compacting before the rainy season hits in few days. With prayer and putting pressure on the contractor, the second phase has already started and it is in a good progress which I believe the second phase will be completed early next week.

Once the compacting is completed, it will be masonry work and which will be safe to do it in the rain, and it will be such a great relief to see all the ground work completed, and prayer would be much appreciated for the rain to hold for the coming few days, as it is very crucial stage.

I am glad to inform you that we are able to start the excavation for the construction of the High School Centre. The excavation started few days ago and due to the heavy rain, the contractor was not able to finish the excavation as planned. But this month, the Ethiopian weather is expected to be dry and the contractor is planning to finish the ground this month before mid of June as this is when the Ethiopian heavy rain starts.
