“You have kept their dreams alive”

With ongoing civil war in Myanmar many displaced children have had everything taken away from them, their safety, homes, education and their future. Our staff at the Sophia Project are keen to see every child, not just the ones we care for, succeed and distributed stationery to over 200 displaced children. One father, Lwin shared this heart warming message of thanks:
“I am writing this letter to you with a heart full of tears and gratitude. As a father living through the immense hardships and daily struggles for survival in our region, my greatest heartbreak has been watching my children's education slip away. In times like these, when simply staying safe and finding food is a daily battle, providing for their schooling felt like an impossible dream.
Then, your beautiful gift of school supplies arrived-quite enough for the whole year for my three kids!
I cannot fully express into words what it meant to see my children hold brand-new notebooks, pencils, and school supplies. For months, they have known only fear and uncertainty. But when they opened your package, their faces lit up with a joy I haven't seen in a very long time. For a moment, the heavy clouds over our lives vanished, and they were just regular children, excited to learn.
Your kindness did not just deliver paper and pens; it brought a flicker of hope back into our lives. It reminded my children that they are not forgotten by the world.
As a father, my deepest wish is to protect my children and give them a future. In our current reality, education is the only shield they have to build a better life tomorrow. By providing them with these basic yet vital tools, you have kept their dreams alive and relieved a massive burden from my heavy heart.
Thank you for your empathy, your boundless generosity and for reaching out your hands to help us in our darkest hour. We will guard these supplies with great care, and I will ensure my children use them to study hard.”
