Team Fundraising Guide

Thank you so much for taking part in February on the Floor and starting a Team. Through your fundraising, you will help our kids pursue their dreams. If you haven't done so already, make sure you join your own team and set up your fundraising page.

This page is to help you raise as much money as possible from your challenge. We believe people will be inspired as they see and hear how you take on a weekend of uncomfortable sleep in order that you will be the reason our kids can receive new uniforms, school bags, beds and a filling breakfast. We are here to support you through every step of your challenge and can’t wait to show you the smiling faces of the kids who you will impact.

Invite people to join your team

To make your Team Fundraising as successful as possible and help many kids around the world, you need to grow your team! Invite your family, friends and colleagues via text, email, WhatsApp, on social media or in person. A personal ask goes a long way and be sure to explain why you are taking on this challenge and share the link to your team page. You can use and adapt the example message below:

"This year I am taking on February on the Floor by sleeping on the floor for a weekend in February to provide rescued children around the world with uniforms, breakfast and beds. Sleeping on the floor for a couple of nights is a sacrifice but it will make a huge impact. It's also a fun and educational challenge that all of the family can take part in. My goal is to raise £1000 and I would like to invite you to be part of my team so we can change children's lives together. It only takes a minute, visit the link and click 'Join the Team' and we can help children pursue their dreams!"

Team Leaders

Now that you have recruited your team, as a team leader, your role is to encourage and cheer them on. To really make the most of your February on the Floor challenge, each member of your team should be sharing their individual fundraising pages with their friends, families and colleagues to ensure people know about the challenge and where to donate.

During the challenge, remind your team to share daily updates about their nights on the floor, why they are taking on the challenge and always sharing the link to their fundraising page. These updates can be shared on social media or by email or text with family and friends. The more your team shares about what they are doing, the more donations you will receive to change the lives of children around the world!

Other ways to boost your fundraising

Presentations: If you have the opportunity to speak about your challenge at work, school, church or anywhere else, you can edit and use our Presentation template.

Press release: Download the press release template to personalise and send to your local newspaper or radio station to tell even more people about what you are doing.

Sharing your challenge on social media

You’ll need to tell people about your challenge to raise as much money as possible and help many children pursue their dream. Social media is a great tool to share your online fundraising page and your February on the Floor experience. It will help you raise donations and awareness that you are taking on your challenge, enable you to update people everyday about how you are sleeping and where you can share your thank you at the end. You can share photos, short videos and make sure you tag us as we want to follow along on your February on the Floor journey.

Before

It's best to start talking about your challenge a couple of weeks ahead of time. You'll want to explain what you are doing, and more importantly, why you are doing it! Tell everyone know you are taking on this challenge, share your fundraising page and let people know how much their donation will mean for a child.

During

During your challenge you'll want to share an update each day to let people know how they can support you. We will send you a few emails with stories, photos and quotes that you can share. Talk about your experience of sleeping on the floor and relate it to our children's experience of sleeping on the cold, mud ground and waking up in the morning to get ready for school. When people see you are committed to your challenge, they'll want to support you!

After

It's really important to thank people for their support once you have finished your challenge. Later you'll be able to show them the impact of their support when you share photos of the children who have received uniforms, breakfast and new beds. This will encourage your friends that their donations really have changed lives!
