Bethany School inspires the community

Our Bethany School in Ethiopia welcomed over 60 teachers from local schools to tour our premises and learn about how the school has become an exceptional place of education.

Having been recognised as a model school in the area for its outstanding facilities, practices and exam results, the Bethany School aimed to share how other local schools could also deliver life-changing learning through a well-rounded education. As they toured the grounds, the visitors were amazed by the school’s facilities and teaching. One visiting teacher remarked: “Our time here at Bethany School has been incredibly inspiring. The facilities are exceptional, and the overall educational system is a model for schools in the area. We have learned valuable lessons that we can incorporate into our teaching processes to enhance the learning experience for our own students.”

Almost 20 years ago we adopted the Bethany School, then only two small, dark mud huts that 220 students crammed into. At the time we commenced our work, the school had no resources, no water supply, no toilets and only two untrained teachers. Through years of unparalleled care from our local staff and the generosity and prayers of faithful supporters, our Bethany School has been able to grow and now educates 450 of the town’s poorest children. From our kindergarten classes to our science lab, the school’s facilities have seen incredible transformation and allowed us to provide our kids with the best possible education.

The visit not only highlighted Bethany School’s role as a leader in education within the community but also encouraged a spirit of collaboration amongst teachers and a desire to see growth for all schools in the region.

We are so proud that our Bethany School is helping to transform education in Ethiopia.
