Picnic on the Mountain

Singing all the way, children from Kalaymyo children’s village in Burma went out for a country picnic.
Imagine their excitement!

Many children in Burma have families that struggle to provide daily essentials for their children. A day out is a rare treat and the Stand by Me children made the most of the day.

Splashing and swimming in a mountain stream, games and a picnic lunch were the ingredients for a memorable day. No different to children here in England – but this picnic had the backdrop of a Burmese mountain. At the end of the day the children travelled home tired but very happy.

At Stand by Me, we believe that trips out enhance our children’s lives and broaden their understanding of the world. They bring opportunities to learn new things about their own lands and culture, as well as making discoveries about themselves and other children.
