A generous Christmas

The girls in the House of Hope in Romania had a very happy Christmas and were the recipients of our supporters and sponsors’ kind generosity. The girls in the House of Hope have backgrounds of awful poverty and neglect and may have once faced a cold lonely Christmas. This year they were exceedingly grateful to be given treats and presents in addition to new warm shoes. The girls received soft blankets for each of their beds to keep them warm during the cold winter months. It was a very happy Christmas.

A Stand by Me team from Cranham drove a jeep to Romania filled with resources for the children in Romania including treats and sweets earlier in 2014. The sweets were saved for Christmas and shared between the children in the Denisa Day Care Centre and the girls in the House of Hope. The girls in the House of Hope decided to extend the generosity that they had benefited from and share the sweets with the people in their local church. A small treat of sweets went such a long way and were appreciated by everyone who received them.

Our hope is that all our children grow up to be generous and kind. The girls in the House of Hope have shown their generous nature by sharing their sweets and organising carol singing in the community. The girls were motivated to carol sing to raise money for a poor family whose children attend the Denisa Day Care Centre, the mother in this family is ill with cancer so Christmas was a difficult time for them. The girls donated the money raised to this needy family. What a wonderful example of love and giving at Christmas. Read more about our projects in Romania here.
