Bible Camp in Colombia

60 children from our Centro Educativo Cristiano School in Colombia attended a five day summer Bible camp in December and for many, it was their first experience of a holiday. Camps are always an exciting time for our children as they have the opportunity to learn about the love of God while mixing with others in a fun, new environment. We are extremely pleased to share that during the camp, 12 of the children made a decision to give their lives to Jesus.

The camp was held on a farm with lots of green, open space for the children to enjoy their freedom, and they began their adventure when they travelled two hours by bus from their school to the camp site. The journey itself held its own excitement as the children passed through new areas of the country they had not visited before.

The camp was an active week filled with bible studies, games, good food and sports, and the children were most excited to discover a swimming pool, where they spent many hours having fun.

Each day the children broke into small groups of 10 to meet for a 20 minute devotional time, before coming back together to eat breakfast. Next they divided into age related groups and were led by a member of the Stand by Me staff for a Bible class. Games and swimming occupied more of their time and the children enjoyed lots of wonderful food that was prepared and cooked for them each day. They were encouraged to help with the day to day chores such as washing up to develop valuable life skills.

Many of the children are from extremely poor backgrounds and do not have the luxury of three good meals a day. Our camps provide a time of fun, eating nutritious food and good teaching, but also memories of a holiday that they will always treasure.

You can make a donation towards our summer Bible camps around the world today and create special memories for the children in our care.
