There are no hospitals in Guacamayal, Colombia where we care for over 180 kids at our care centre. Stand by Me invites doctors and dentists to visit the care centre and run clinics for our children and often their relatives too. Recently a team of nine doctors and two dentists visited the care centre.
Laura started to notice a large mass on her foot which caused her pain and was beginning to deform her foot. We stepped in to help and Laura underwent an operation to remove the mass.
Our care centre ran a safeguarding training day where 80 parents attended. The training had a focus on how to report a case of abuse to the authorities as often the stigma from sexual abuse means that parents are too scared to report it. Parents are now equipped to challenge child abuse and take action and our staff are as committed as ever to see long-term transformation in the community.
The children at our Emmanuel Care Centre in Colombia were ecstatic with the newest addition to the centre, a computer! They watched eagerly as the screen lit up and they excitedly took it in turns to explore the different programmes that will help in their learning.
