In the Banana Zone of northern Colombia there is very little hope. Families live in terrible conditions, far below the poverty line and are surrounded by the constant threat of violence. For children growing up in a small, neglected town, the cycle of poverty seems inescapable and the chance of a brighter future, impossible.
Many children in Colombia face neglect, trauma and hopelessness in their home lives. Our Emmanuel Care Centre is providing children with the daily support, food, education and counselling they need to overcome such challenges.
Our Emmanuel Care Centre in Colombia is a safe haven for our children, offering a place where they can laugh, play and receive life-changing care. Thanks to the support of Colombia sponsors, the incredible care centre staff gave our children a joyful Christmas celebration full of dancing, songs and fun. These celebrations are an important way that we show our children they are cared for and loved by God.
A welcome celebration marked the entrance of 14 new Grade 1 children into our Emmanuel Care Centre. They are the first cohort of up to 30 Grade 1 children who are enrolled into the centre each year, the excited five- and six- year-olds now receiving a life-changing education through our programme in Colombia.
