Helping every child to thrive

Lidiya joined our Bethany School in Ethiopia, when she was eight years old. She lived with her parents in a small rented mud hut, but the family were living in poverty and as a result she was malnourished.

Once she joined our Bethany School, Lidiya received a free education, food, and healthcare when needed. She started to thrive. She loved going to school and was determined to make the most of her education. She worked hard and was top in her class. She passed all her exams and was accepted to University to study accounting.

“After I joined this school everything that was hard in my life became easier for me because all my basic needs were fulfilled through Stand by me including food, school uniform and exercise books. I continued my education with much hope, joy and with a bright future.”

We are thrilled that Lidiya has recently received an accountancy job at children’s charity. This incredible achievement means so much to Lidiya, her family and all at Stand by Me. This job has empowered her and given her entire family security.
